At Variety Funerals, we understand that arranging a funeral can be a difficult and emotional time. We aim to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible for you. One of the most common questions we are asked is, “How long after death does cremation take place?”
We aim for the cremation to take place within 3 weeks of being appointed. However, several factors can influence this timeframe, and it’s important to understand them as you plan.
Factors that can affect the timeframe:
- Bank Holidays: Public holidays can affect crematorium availability and may result in a slightly longer wait.
- Crematorium Availability: Crematoriums have busy schedules. We work closely with them, but sometimes securing your preferred date and time might take a little longer.
- Post-Mortem: In some cases, a post-mortem examination may be required. This can add to the overall timeframe.
- Family Requirements: We understand that families may need more time to make travel arrangements, especially if mourners live overseas or have other commitments. We are flexible and will work with you to accommodate your needs.
Important Note:
Once the deceased is in our care, the cremation must take place within 20 working days (approximately 4 weeks). This is to avoid additional charges being applied.
