Frequently Asked Questions

Should we go out of business, we aim to have arrangements in place so a new regulated provider can carry out your funeral plan. Alternatively, if another provider could not be found, the FSCS would step in.

Your Peace of Mind is Our Priority: Keeping Your Funds Protected

At Variety Funerals™, we understand the importance of knowing your money is safe and secure. That’s why we use a dedicated Whole of Life (WOL) policy issued by Royal London Mutual Insurance Society, the UK’s largest mutual insurer with a long-standing history dating back to 1861.

Here’s how your money is protected:

  • Separate from Variety Funerals™: The WOL policy is independent of our company, ensuring your funds remain safe even if we were to cease trading.
  • FSCS protection: Your money invested in the WOL policy is protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), a government-backed scheme that safeguards eligible deposits up to a certain limit in the event of an eligible failure.

By choosing Variety Funerals™, you can enjoy some peace of mind knowing your pre-paid funeral arrangements are financially protected.

Variety Funerals Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Firm Reference Number 1011776. You can check this on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk

Please note  that FCA regulations apply to pre-paid funeral plans, not funeral arrangements made after someone has passed away.

FSCS protects you when financial firms fail.

If the financial firm you’ve used has gone out of business and can’t pay your claim, the FSCS can step in to pay compensation.

Set up by the government, the FSCS is independent and their service is free to use. You’ll keep 100% of the compensation you’re owed when you claim directly through the FSCS.

If a claim is made after you have passed away the compensation owed will paid into your estate.

In most circumstances you (or your estate) will not need to make a claim because arrangements will be made for an alternative funeral plan company to carry out your funeral plan, under the guide of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Visit the FSCS website
