Choosing your funeral
Direct Cremation
A direct unattended cremation is a popular choice for those who wish to celebrate the life of the deceased in their own way.
Many consider this cremation only option which means there are no mourners in attendance as the modern approach to arranging a funeral.
Spending large sums of money on elaborate funerals is becoming something of the past, a direct cremation is a dignified choice giving you control as to how the deceased is remembered.
Attended Cremation
We understand that attending the crematorium for a service is important to many and our Variety Consultants will make sure you are aware of all options to reduce costs.
As an example many crematoria charge a lower fee for services conducted before 10am. In addition it is not mandatory to have a religious leader or Humanist Celebrant (known as an Officiant) to conduct the service; although we can arrange an Officiant for you, family can conduct the service themselves with music and readings.
Cremation fees include music to be played at the crematorium so you can choose music pieces of your choice to be part of the service including music for the start and end.

How it Works
1 Speak to a Variety Consultant
Choose the cremation type that is best for you. Variety Consultants are here for you 24-hours day, everyday.
All information is confirmed in writing.
2 Choose a Date
The cremation date is agreed with you and your Variety Consultant will assist with all necessary paperwork and take care of all planning to make sure the cremation goes ahead to your requirements.
3 Cremated Remains
Following the cremation, the deceased's cremated remains (ashes) will be available for collection from the crematorium within two business days. An eco-box is included for you to collect them in.
If you'd prefer to have the cremated remains delivered to a private residence by a private driver this can be arranged for an additional fee.
Alternatively, we can scatter the cremated remains in the Gardens of Remembrance at the crematorium. This option is included in the package price.

We do not provide a viewing service. Should you wish to view the deceased please arrange to do so before we collect.
Embalming is a mortuary practise to preserve the body of the deceased that began in England in the 18th century before electricity was in use. Now in the 21st century we have the use of refrigeration to preserve the deceased and therefore embalming is not required for this purpose and therefore not included.
Yes. For direct unattended cremations the choice is restricted. For attended cremations the service can take place at any crematoria of your choosing in mainland England and Wales.
Yes. A funeral director is a professional involved in the business of funerals. Variety Funerals™ is a specialist funeral director providing cremations at a Lower Price. We do not provide burials or a branch based service which are typically higher in costs.
